And so I jet setted off to Rome last week with a set of amazing crew and spent a good 2 days there re-visiting the iconic sights of the city. I last visited Rome in April 2011 with my family and so the memory of the sights were still pretty fresh.
Throwback:
I love how Italy gives out its unique vibe to its city. The strong Italian accent of its people. Words ending with a vowel (fun fact!) The romantic vibe you never fail to get with lovers flooding all around. The extra cautious moments you need for your belongings and companions. Visiting stalls after stalls to check out the repeated souvenirs just to ensure you get it at the “right lowest price”.
embarked off to our self proclaim city tour after 17 hours of work :
Arul, Sarah, Me, Desmond and Kylie! Your little minions for SQ366/365
Times when I am thankful for my job is when I get to travel around for free to admire God’s wonderful works + Mothers’ nature.
Highlight of the day was probably the famous Trevi Fountain where people would toss a coin or two, wishing for both luck and love. Well it might be a myth but you just got to because it is a “to-do-list-when-in-Rome”
Here’s me taking photography to the next level.
Oh if you made wishes like “please grant me good figure forever” remember to grab some gelato! :’)
Went to the Spanish steps after,
Here’s my favorite earthlings and I back in 2012.
After which our energy was running way too low and all we needed were rest and food. Italian cuisine to end our day off!
My two pretty shopaholics!
Day 2: Colosseum
Was amused by someone who thought it was a photobomber and then we realized it was our Senior First Officer!
Was really excited to entire the Colosseum since I did not get the chance to 2 years ago due to construction.
We just stood there in awed gazing at the huge bricks and stones which made up the 50,000-80,000 seated amphitheater.
Group & Individual shots with my Rome Buds
Before heading to the Vatican City, we settled for our 2nd Italian meal @ some random cafes we found.
And on our way, we met a Minion!
We literally went “SINCE WHEN MINION WAS TALL?”
My Carbo loaded lunch. The pinkish uncooked looking thingy was actually defined as “pork sausage” in Italian context.
Vatican City next!
We also had Nathan with us who was on holiday!
Vatican City was so packed. It was a Saturday and there were free admission in to the Basilica. Really wanted to enter the Basilica because I did not get the chance to the previous time I was here. Just hope I get another chance to be here again before I leave.
Ending our day at the Vatican City with a beautiful view of the Basilica. Following which was a Indian fast food joint before heading back to rest for our flight.
Early next morning! Time to work our ass off back to Sunny Sing. Best part? All in EY (Economy Class)
Ciao..
